SEC RESIGNS

He will leave the Ohio ARES program in excellent shape but his company has asked he return to school and his Knights of Columbus council recently elevated him to the role of Grand Knight.

Ohio Section Emergency Coordinator Frank Piper, KI8GW, of Pickerington, announced this week he wishes to resign the head of Ohio's ARES program. The resignation is effective the day his successor is appointed. Frank's official letter of resignation follows this article.

He has held the post for more than two years and in that time restructured the district emergency coordinator (DECs) responsibilities and established a recruiting program which upgraded the administrative talent. At the 2008 Dayton Hamvention ARES forum, Frank was one of two Ohio ARES administrators to receive the Commendation of Merit from ARRL Headquarters.

Ohio Section Manger, Joe Phillips, K8QOE, said, "Frank told me he will miss being SEC very much but his company has required Frank to go back to school and he wishes to spend more time with the Knights of Columbus
since he was elected Grand Knight." Phillips added that Frank has left the ARES of Ohio in great shape by recruiting and maintaining a great feeder system of talent. (article taken from Ohio ARES website)
